Only You- a resplendent HKD$30 million musical drama starring Casanova Adam Cheng and movie princess Connie Chan – comes to Macao during Chritmas. From 8:00pm on these evenings the Macao Cultural Centre, in collaboration once again with the production team which presented Sentimental Journey, welcomes back director Clifton Ko, stage manager Chung King Fai, scriptwriter and music scorer Raymond To and accomplished actors Yeung Tin King, Perry Chiu, Leung Han Wai, Lee Heung Kam, and (Lei Fong, Cantonese). This masterpiece follows the success of Red Boat and Sentimental Journey. In her first appearance with Casanova Adam Cheng, much is expected of Connie Chan, and the chemistry of her duets with her leading man is highly anticipated!
Based on the (Karma after Rebirth, Zai Sheng Yuan) of Chen Duan Sheng, a female Qing Dynasty playwright, Only You depicts a versatile and dutiful daughter in the form of Meng Li Jun (Connie Chan). She and old family friend Huang Fu Shao Hua (Adam Cheng) have been in love since childhood and are engaged to each other.
Li Jun’s father General Meng Shi Yuan has been framed by the treacherous court official LiuKui. In consequence, Emperor Cheng orders the beheading of her parents and the deportation of Li Jun to the palace as a maid. In despair, Li Jun, disguised as a man, slips into the capital and plots her revenge.
Three years later, the palace is a contented place: the Emperor’s mother’s long illness has finally been cured by the number one scholar in the imperial examinations, who is now Deputy Prime Minister JunYu (Li Jun, via cross-casting, has managed to become number one scholar). Empress Hua Xi has finally conceived and Huang Fu Shao Hua has secured a great victory against enemy forces.
At court, Shao Hua is astonished to discover that Jun Li very much resembles his fiancee Li Jun. Li Jun, however, dare not to reveal her true identity, and resists all of Shao Hua’s attempts to unravel the truth. Meanwhile, the Emperor has been paying close attention to this ‘eccentricity’…
